Starting off new

Mission Federal Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its 31st branch by holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The San Diego-area CU invited residents to enjoy snacks and drew prizes every half hour at the event.

CUNA Mutual awarded

CUNA Mutual Group was the recipient of the Distinguished Performer Award for Diversity from the Deloitte Wisconsin 75 program. CUNA Mutual was recognized for its community work back in 2016 and for its innovation in 2017.

Pledging $5 million for CHOC

Orange, Calif.-based Orange County CU announced its commitment to raise $5 million over five years for Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Because of the credit union’s pledge, CHOC reciprocated their generosity and will name a new space “the Credit Unions for Kids Community Engagement Center”.

Silent auction

Tacoma, Wash.-based Northwest Credit Union raised a whopping $628,226 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during the CU’s “New York, New York” auction. Attendees bid against one another for jewelry and wine flights in a competitive silent auction.

In the DNA

Nusenda Credit Union, based in Albuquerque, N.M., devoted a day of volunteer work to five community organizations, including food banks, medical centers, schools and cultural centers. The credit union said giving back is in its DNA.

Supporting the arts

Clarksville, Ga.-based Peach State Federal Credit Union donated $5,000 to the Habersham Community Theater. The theater will receive $1,000 from the credit union each year until 2022.


Oak Creek, Wis.-based Educators CU stuffed and donated roughly 600 Build-A-Bear Workshop bears to different charities. A majority of the bears were donated to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

No Shave November

Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union, Chalfont, Pa., attempted to raise cancer awareness with a focus on men’s health issues by encouraging employees to participate in ‘No Shave November’. Each employee donated $20 to participate in the event.

A denim day

Somerville, Mass.-based Naveo Credit Union employees and members raised $1,500 for Boston Children’s Hospital by participating in the Miracle Jeans Day initiative. Naveo then matched the donations contributed by its employees.

School spirit

Indianapolis-based Indiana Members Credit Union presented a check for $1,508 to the Zionsville Community High School athletics department as part of a continuing school spirit debit card program. This partnership allows fans of the school the opportunity to show their school spirit while supporting the athletic program by signing up for a Zionsville Eagles-themed debit card.
